At first sight, STEPN seems simple enough, buy some shoes and earn cryptocurrencies by walking, jogging or running. So that is how I started, I bought the cheapest walking shoe and when I received some energy, I went for a walk. Although this did earn something, it wasn’t much, so I quickly ended up back on the couch for some research.
Round 2 started the day after, with a fresh pair of lvl 29 uncommon walking sneakers. With my new high stats boots and new day energy I went for a walk. Luckily this increased the earnings a lot. The higher level, stats and extra energy was a big improvement, but new shoes are not cheap. The uncommon walkers cost about $98.
After 10 days of walking I learned that energy is based on the number of shoes + some extra for rarer shoes. If I bought a third pair I would receive 2 more energy, 4 for having 3 boots, and 1 for having an uncommon pair. So that’s what I did, bought another cheap pair of shoes to get my daily energy up.
Conclusion
STEPN is similar to other games, starting easy won’t earn you a lot, you have to find a balance between having the right shoes, enough shoes for energy, paying for repairs, gems and mysteryboxes.
And then there is the risk of the token devaluation! The GMT and GST token don’t have the most possitive tokenomics. My first dive into the GMT token distribution indicated that the token price sliding will probably ruin our hopes to make a profit.
More on this later.
I will update this page every while and add more insights into the project.
